Following Kirsty McNeill’s first appearance before the International Development Committee on 15 September, the APPG on Global Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights has written to the Minister to welcome her appointment and reflect on the priorities she outlined during the session.
Additionally, the letter highlights the APPG’s support for her values-led approach to development, her focus on the five securities, and her commitment to placing women, girls, children and young people at the centre of UK development policy.
It also sets out the Group’s concerns about recent reductions to SRHR programming within ODA and encourages renewed UK leadership on sexual and reproductive health and rights.
The APPG has invited the Minister to meet with Members to discuss her vision for the UK’s role and how SRHR can be embedded within the rights-based, security-focused agenda she articulated to the Committee.
